A well-established Fairfax, Virginia law firm is seeking a seasoned, highly experienced Personal Injury Paralegal to work directly with the firm’s Managing Partner in a very busy and sophisticated personal injury and wrongful death litigation practice. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an experienced professional who understands personal injury litigation, can independently manage a substantial caseload, and knows how to keep complex cases moving from intake through litigation, settlement, and trial preparation.
The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where cases involve serious injuries, significant damages, and high stakes.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Partner and will be expected to:
Manage personal injury and wrongful death files from intake through resolution;Obtain, organize, and summarize medical records, bills, liens, and other damages documentation;Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, medical providers, insurance carriers, experts, and opposing counsel;Prepare demand packages and assist with settlement negotiations and documentation;Draft and assist with pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, correspondence, and litigation documents;Calendar and manage discovery deadlines, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial dates;Assist with deposition, mediation, and trial preparation;Maintain organized and complete case files; andAnticipate what the attorney and the case need next rather than waiting to be asked.
Qualifications
Prior personal injury experience is required. Applicants without meaningful personal injury experience will not be considered.
We are particularly interested in candidates with substantial experience handling serious personal injury, automobile collision, premises liability, and wrongful death matters. Virginia litigation experience is strongly preferred.
The right candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, strong writing ability, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining excellent client service.
