To solicit qualified candidates for membership on the PAHO Audit Committee.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is seeking applications for a position on its Audit Committee. PAHO works to improve the health and well-being of people in the Americas. The Organization is committed to providing the highest level of technical cooperation and leadership to its Member States in pursuit of the goal of Health for All. PAHO enjoys international recognition as part of the United Nations system, serving as the specialized agency for health of the Organization of American States and as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization.

The purpose of the Audit Committee is to provide the Director of PAHO and PAHO Member States, through the Executive Committee, with advice on the operation of the organization’s financial controls and reporting structures, risk management processes, and other audit-related controls, through independent reviews of PAHO’s internal and external oversight and control functions.

Members of the Audit Committee shall serve in their personal capacity, reflect the highest level of integrity, and be fully independent from PAHO.

Each member may serve no more than two full terms of three years each. Members are expected to attend normally two meetings per year, which are typically held in Washington, D.C. Service on the Committee is without remuneration, except for administrative support and the reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs incurred in connection with Committee duties, in accordance with PAHO rules.

Applicants must have recent and relevant senior-level financial, audit, risk management, internal control, and/or other oversight-related experience, including familiarity with the functioning of international organizations within the United Nations system. Members of the Audit Committee must be fully independent from any government or PAHO body, structure, or entity. Candidates from a range of professional backgrounds, including those currently working in the private sector, are encouraged to apply.
