The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) unites nearly 80 degree programs from nine Maryland public universities on one convenient campus in Montgomery County. USG prepares students for careers in high-demand fields—offering academic coaching, career advising, and internship placement. Graduates earn degrees from partner universities, backed by a shared commitment to their success. Get to know USG and enjoy an active, close-knit community with small class sizes, academic support, and real-world experiences. Together, we make it happen.
In alignment with USG’s strategic direction, staff in the Transfer Access Center, within the Division of Student Affairs and Career Readiness, play a key role in helping students become aware of and enter educational and career pathways aligned with the USG’s four Industry Hubs. The Transfer Access and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for creating awareness and interest in the USG’s surrounding community with a goal of inspiring learners to engage in degree and certificate attainment in high quality academic programs offered at USG. To accomplish this goal, the Transfer Access and Outreach Coordinator will collaborate with the broader USG Transfer Access team to create opportunities for career and campus exploration in alignment with USG’s unique student pathway model. This will include regular visits and engagement with local educational partners within the Montgomery County Public School System, as well as with regional community colleges.
The Transfer Access and Outreach Coordinator will regularly lead activities designed to engage students in exploration of their personal strengths, interests, and values so that each can find a unique fit within an academic program offered at the USG Campus. The Coordinator will also be responsible for highlighting the unique added value that USG offers as a campus focused on career readiness, launching graduates into in-demand careers in the region. General responsibilities will include career exploration, and transfer coaching for prospective students, tabling and presentations at feeder institutions and community agencies/events, collaboration with industry hubs for coordination of high-quality events which showcase USG’s many benefits, and the development of partnerships with the regional educators, community-based organizations, and employers.
