Head Residence Gardener

The Australian Embassy in Washington DC is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Head Residence Gardener to coordinate the gardens and grounds maintenance across the owned official residences and provide hands on horticultural expertise for the Ambassador’s Residence in particular. The successful candidate will be a team player, ready to lend a hand in other tasking, such as helping set up and break down for large events, and have formal skills and experience in creating a welcoming and peaceful landscape environment that reflects careful planning and maintenance, skilled design, and expert plant care and selection. The candidate will also be able to undertake administrative tasks such as reconcile purchases and credit card acquittals. The Head Gardener will be responsible for maintaining the grounds in a safe and accessible state at all times, including snow and leaf clearing, as well as maintaining the lawn tennis court in conjunction with periodic expert consultation. A US Driver’s License is required as well as the ability to lift weights to 50 lbs.
